Most modern cars only needs a service once a year, but older cars require a service once every six months. The manufacturer's service handbook will set what is best for your car. The type of service you need will also be affected by how you use your car. For example, lots of short journeys where the engine does not have a chance to warm up properly will probably mean more frequent oil and filter changes.

Q. How often should I change the oil?

A. Engine oil needs to be changed regularly. When oil becomes too old and dirty, you’re no longer getting the full benefit of the additives it contains. The oil becomes less effective at doing the job it’s supposed to do. What’s worse, the increased friction and chemical build-up in used oil can deteriorate your engine’s moving parts.

Q. What should I do if this Light comes on?

A. This light indicates a engine management fault and can come on for many reasons. Sometimes all that is needed is a system reset, this can only be performed on up to date diagnostic equipment. However if you have this light on your dashboard we recommend this is check out immediately as a more serious fault may be present.
